Precious Lambs is a state licensed child care facility serving the Long Island, N.Y. and surrounding areas.
Our goal is to provide high quality child care by creating a safe, healthy, and caring environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of your child, as well responding to the needs of your family.
We partner with parents; working together to help our children grow happy, healthy, and strong, and building a relationship of mutual trust and respect.
Listed below are a few of our policies that may answer some of your questions.
ENROLLMENT: It is the Policy of Precious Lambs to receive all completed enrollment forms, authorizations, immunization records and medical history of the child being enrolled prior to the start date:

PARENTS AS PARTNERS: The parent-provider partnership is extremely important in promoting quality care for your child. Your involvement is important in helping us meet your family’s needs and to continue providing a high level of quality care for your child.
ORIENTATION: It is the Policy of Precious Lambs that all parents must attend an Orientation with the Director or Assistant Director of the Program. At which time, enrollment papers, parent handbooks, policies and procedures and emergency evacuations will be reviewed and discussed.
FREE TRIAL: Prior to your child’s start, you and your child will be invited to participate in a 1-hour free trial, where your child will be allowed to participate in classroom activities while adapting to his new environment with the security of having his/her parents present.
POTTY TRAINING: Precious Lambs is happy to service you and your child by partnering with you in the potty training process. We will assist in potty training your child as long as the process has been initiated at home. The potty training process is one that is sure to be successful, when your child is ready. Please remember that potty training has to be reinforced at home as well as in school. If you have not initiated potty training at home, we will keep you abreast as to the sign and signals that we observe at school which shows signs of readiness.
NUT FREE: Please remember that Precious Lambs is a Nut Free School, please do not send your child into school with meals that include nut substances or ingredients. i.e., Nuts, Peanut Butter, Almond Butter, Cashew Butter or any other NUT Butters or nut type substances are not allowed.
BIRTHDAYS: We love celebrating Birthdays here at Precious Lambs and we do allow cupcakes, donuts and other baked goods to be brought to class for your child’s birthday celebration. Please bear in mind that we are a peanut free school, therefore, please do not provide any cakes or good with nut butters or nuts in in the ingredients. It is the Policy of Precious Lambs to also be provided a copy of the ingredients of the baked goods. This is to ensure the health and safety of the children, while allowing them to celebrate their special day with their friends.
MEALS: Precious Lambs does not provide meals. Please be sure to pack your child’s meals for the time that they are in care. This includes, but is not limited to breakfast, lunch, two snacks and drinks.
ILLNESS POLICY / HEALTH DEPARTMENT REGULATIONS
In accordance with NYS OCFS Regulation 418-1.11 (2. e) all children enrolled in a child care setting must have a current (within one year) physical exam and appropriate up-to-date immunizations on file.
Other than children who are enrolled in kindergarten or a higher grade, no child may be accepted for care in a child care program unless the program has been furnished with a written statement signed by a health care provider verifying that the child is able to participate in child day care and currently appears to be free from contagious or communicable diseases. A child’s medical statement must have been completed within the 12 months preceding the date of enrollment. Health records are due at time of enrollment and you will be asked to update them each year.
In the event that your child is sick and will not be attending daycare, (according to the terms described in Precious Lambs Health Care Policy and Parent Handbook), please notify Precious Lambs by telephone as soon as possible.
Parents agree that a child will be symptom-free, without the aid of symptom reducing medications such as Tylenol, for a full 24 hours prior to returning to daycare. We reserve the right to ask for a note from your family doctor, depending on the nature and/or duration of the illness/disease.
- Precious Lambs must get certain information and records from parents to ensure the child’s health and safety.
- Please make sure a current copy of your child’s immunization record is on file.
- Please complete an enrollment form that includes basic information about your child; telephone numbers where you can be reached during the day and authorization for emergency care for your child.
- Please inform Precious Lambs about any special concerns or needs, including allergies, medical history and current medications.
- Please note that your child will only be released to persons other than parents when prearrangements have been made between parent and Precious Lambs. You must inform Precious Lambs in writing about who is permitted to take your child from day care.
- Photo identification MUST be shown before a child is released to an adult other than the parent. Precious Lambs will not release a child to school age children.
PAYMENTS: Payment is preferred in the form ACH Debit. Payments can also be made by check or be paid on line through our parent portal. Monthly Payments are due the first of every month, weekly payments are due the last day of care for the week care is given and will be attributed to the following week of care. There is a grace period of two days for making payments, thereafter, late fees will be applied to your contracted tuition fee. Precious Lambs also contacts with community based organizations and DSS. If your tuition fees are paid in full or in party by an outside agency, please discuss this matter with the Director.
